Innoventions 2006 – KubeMatrix
INNOVENTIONS 2006 Application supporting material – The Talking Walls™ D. Wilson
KubeMatrix©
KubeMatrix© is an application for the small screen device – pda, mda and tablet pc. It is a unique form of navigation for various subject areas such as finding a new home, a holiday destination with flights and places to stay amongst other useful holiday information, local tourist information, navigating around a hospital or museum, or even for document management.
KubeMatrix© has evolved from an application called ‘The Talking Walls™’ where it was used to navigate the user in a heritage property’s architectural timeline, allowing the user to jump up and down in history with regard to a room the user may be visiting whilst using the application on a PDA.
Recently, the British Museum has taken a strong interest in The Talking Walls™ and the included KubeMatrix© as their preferred solution for allowing visitors an enhanced mobile experience and way of navigating around the museum.
It has also received interest from a fellow Alumni of Southampton Solent University, Glen, who recently finished an MA in Marketing and has returned to work in the Terracotta Warrior Army Museum and Ancient Coin Museum in China.
This is a unique and extensible method of navigating almost any subject or place, mainly for small screen devices but also for the more traditional screen sizes, on it’s own or within other applications such as The Talking Walls.

There will be other examples of the KubeMatrix application available for viewing by the time of the Exhibition. These are from The Talking Walls™ shown to the British Museum. The PDA Flash version of the above application has been copied to the disc enclosed. This would need the Flash Viewer to be installed onto a PDA before trying to use the application. I have also copied the Viewer to the same disc.
